It
was Independence Day celebrations galore happening
when there were posters all around the city
which startled many Simran's fans, may be
in fact break a few hearts. It was a sizzling
intimate pose of Simran and director S.J.Surya.
The film 'New' is a home production by Director
S.J.Surya who is also directing the film.
The artistes who were initially slated for
this project were Ajith and Jothika. While
Ajith dropped out of the project as he got
busy with his other films, Jothika's high
rising demands on her salary made Surya rethink
his choice of heroine.
After finishing his
round of re-makes of his successful films
such as Ajith's 'Vaali' and Vijay's 'Khushi'
in other languages, the young, talented who
wears a confident look which sometimes mislead
others to believe it for arrogance makes you
get that 'something-about-this guy' feeling
when you look at him. While there are rumors
that the film is a remake of the Hollywood
blockbuster film 'Big' which starred Tom Hanks
and Elizabeth Perkins all Surya would like
to add is that he decided to go ahead and
do the role of the hero as he felt he would
best fit the role. According to the director
he felt it would be challenging to try fitting
two shoes - the hero and the director.
