Love
starts after marriage" is the theme for
this film, a remake of films in Telugu, Hindi
and Malayalam. Vijay (Vijay) is a foreign-returned
son of industrialist Viswanath (S.P.Balu).
Vijay, having lived in U.S.A for most of his
life, finds it hard to go with Indian culture
and tradition. Scared of his son's aloofness
Vishwanath decides to get him married. Not
also wanting to commit to a married life,
Vijay lays a condition that the marriage will
last for a minimum of one year; then if he
wants to, he can divorce the lady chosen by
his dad.
Priya (Simran) is the sole bread
winner of her middle class family. She is
bound by family problems with a sister who
was to have a heart operation, a brother who
doesn't work and other such problems. Simran
who works for S.P.Balu is chosen as the person
to change his mind. After hearing the agreement
condition, she hesitates but ends up with
Vijay. One year passes and Vijay decides to
remain just friendly with her, sending her
home. The next half is the opposite. Vijay
feels a sudden change in his life (not good
food etc) so he does things Simran likes-
such as buy the hotel in which she works,
asks all the employees to dress in blue, takes
her to a music program etc. The couple finally
reunite join after Vijay gets severely bruised
and Simran bears a baby. |
